Sharon Baptist Church Ministries - Worship

Liturgical Dance Ministry
The mission of this ministry is to Minister God’s word through dance and usher worshipers into God’s presence.  They dance to celebrate, worship, and praise God, our Father, and Jesus, our Risen Savior, through the leading of the Holy Spirit.  They play a role in setting an atmosphere that it is conducive for the word of God to fall on fertile ground and release a spirit of freedom in praise and worship.  They are used by God to bring deliverance, give breakthrough, and break down strongholds in both the saved and unsaved lives.

Let them praise his name in the dance. Psalm 149: 3

Music Ministry
The Music Ministry seeks to demonstrate excellence in song.  They understand this ministry offers praise and worship unto God.  The songs and musical accompaniment edify the body of Christ in that it ministers both to them and the congregants who are listening.  They desire to use, as Paul said, "psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs" to bring us closer to God as we feel God's presence in the context of our worship services. We take this ministry seriously, knowing that, in fact, the gospel of Christ can reach someone through song, and as a result, be the instrument of their hope and salvation.

The Music Ministry currently consists of five choirs:

-Senior Choir
-Youth Choir
-Inspirational Choir
-Fishermen Male Chorus
-The Voices

The ministry also consists of anointed and gifted musicians as well as of the Worship and Praise Ministry.

"..it came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord saying, For He is good; for his mercy endureth forever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord had

filled the house of God. 2 Chronicles 5: 13, 14.

Ushers
Responsibilities include ushering, greeting members and visitors when they enter the sanctuary, distributing programs, and assisting people with seating and directions.  They are charged with helping to keep order in the church through a spirit of humility, seeing to the needs of worshippers.  This Ministry is usually on duty for all events held at the church, including regular worship services, special events, funerals, etc. The Ministry is made up of Adult and Youth Ushers. The ministry of ushering is a vital part of our church ministry, representing the church in a visible way as we help set the tone in preparation for the worship service, as well as assist with the smooth operation within the service.  They are also responsible for controlling movement and activity in the sanctuary, especially at the doors, throughout service.

For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.  I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Psalms 84:10

Nurse
The Nurses’ Ministry is on duty each Sunday to provide first-aid to anyone who becomes ill during church services and serve those who are in need of care because of illness of the mind and/or body.  The purpose of the nurse's ministry is to provide a caring presence, a listening ear and spiritual support to the congregation.  In addition, the nurse's ministry acts as an auxiliary to the pulpit in various capacities during regular and special services.

For this is the word of the Lord: Behold I will both search my sheep and seek them out.  I will bind up those who are broken, and will strengthen those who are sick.  Ezekiel 34: 12,16
